It’s Friday, so everyone is thinking a bit more casual today. That makes it a great day to introduce trend 5, which is
informal wedding gowns. Weddings overall have been taking on a bit more casual feel over the past few years, and we are seeing this sink in with wedding dresses as well. Whether you are a girl that just doesn’t like to dress up, or you are planning a casual backyard wedding, we have some great ideas to share with you.
When planning your casual dress, you are probably mostly thinking about comfort. The easiest way to make a dress comfortable is to use a soft natural fabric. A few of our favorites are laundered linen, soft billowing layers of thin organic cotton, and earthy silk noil. Natural fabrics have a distinct advantage because they breath better, allowing you to stay cooler if you are getting married on a warm summer day.
When choosing a dress for a casual event, we typically choose a shorter gown, however informal wedding gowns can also be long. Choosing the length for your gown will mostly be determined by your personal preference, however, the location and general style of your wedding may also dictate this. Short wedding dresses are also a hot trend for 2011 and look great when paired with a cute pair of shoes or some interesting leg wear.
When wearing an informal wedding gown you will want to keep your hair and make-up looking natural and your accessories to a minimum. We recommend skipping the veil, and choosing a relaxed hair style, such as down in curls with a simple satin head band, or straight with a side pulled back and a simple hair accent like a fresh flower.
Informal wedding gowns are also easy to wear again if you decide that storing a dress isn’t for you. Additionally if the dress is made of a natural fabric such as cotton, linen or silk, then it can be dyed a different color after the wedding, and worn again.
