On the fourth day of Christmas my true love gave to me… Four Colly Birds…? Colly birds? What’s a colly bird? I’ve been singing calling birds since I was a kid!?!
Ok so now according to Merriam-Webster’s Collegiate Dictionary (11th edition) the word “colly” is old English for blacken or as if with soot.
Not very pretty or romantic sounding at first blush, but throw some creativity and mad design skills at our singing four colly birds and we get some GORGEOUS pieces of art.
