Bridesmaids are your friends, and your sisters; they are just like snowflakes, each one of a kind. Their personalities are beautifully unique, and their bridesmaid dresses can reflect their personality and individuality. We don’t recommend just letting your girls wear whatever they want, but instead, give them some guidelines. We’ve laid out a few examples of how this trend can work nicely for you.

The first and simplest way to creating a non matching bridesmaid dresses, is to choose a color, and then give them free rein with the style.  You may want to also settle on a skirt silhouette that they should follow, such as knee length, or long A-line.  This allows them each to feel comfortable in a style they chose, and still keep them looking coordinated.

Alternatively, if you’ve chosen a color palette that is broad, or a palette that allows for several shades of one color, then put each of your girls in a different color.  You could choose to put them all in the same style, or let them choose their own style.  This will give your wedding a beautiful array of color, and allow your girls to pick the color that suits them best. Finally, our absolute favorite way to use non matching bridesmaid dresses is to choose coordinating, colors, prints and styles that fit nicely together but are totally different.  So let’s say for instance that you’ve chosen a retro 1950’s polka dot theme.  Let’s also say that you’ve chosen a palette of red, black and white.  Each girl will then have a dress within these colors using a retro 50’s style, and some form of polka dots.  The styles and colors are all totally different; however, the overall picture coordinates, and looks fun and unique. Whatever way you choose to use this trend, it will create a unique bridal party that will add color and interest to your day, and keep your girls happy with the dress they are wearing.
